CEBU, Philippines — Fresh from their victory in Hong Kong, the paddlers of the Philippine Accessible Disability Services (PADS) Adaptive Dragon Boat Racing Team will once again plunge into action in the 1st Ormoc Dragon Boat Mayor’s Cup 2018 at the Ormoc Bay.
PADS will compete in the 300-meters open and mixed standard category. They will go up against top local dragon boat teams from different regions.
"I believe the team is still hyped up after their victory in Hong Kong. We will show to the people of Ormoc how PWD (Person's with Disability) can fight competitively through this race,” said PADS assistant coach Christian Ian Sy.
Aside from winning titles, PADS will also make the Ormoc race as part of their preparation for the tougher challenge in the 2018 Chicago International Dragon Boat Festival next month.
"After this we will be back on training for our next big race. This is yet another challenging race for the team as this is the first time that the Philippines will have a delegation in Chicago," added Sy.
