CEBU, Philippines — Jusabelle Brillo and Apple Saraum, two of Cebu’s all-time best beach volleybelles, made a big comeback in the sands by winning the 1st Iligan City National Beach Volleyball Tournament at the Paseo de Santiago in Iligan City over the weekend.
Representing the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)-7 squad, Brillo and Saraum whipped the Philippine National Police (PNP) Davao in straight sets, 21-14, 21-19 to claim the coveted title.
Brillo, who delivered several national crowns for the University of the Visayas (UV) during her collegiate days, and Saraum, a former star of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), advanced to the championship round after getting past Team Tagum in a three-set thriller , 21-19, 19-21, 15-13, while PNP Davao booked the other final ticket with a 21-14, 21-16 drubbing of Team Dipolog.
The last time Brillo and Saraum played together during the 2016 Beach Volleyball Republic at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. They placed only sixth. (FREEMAN)
