CEBU, Philippines — Undefeated ALA Boxing Gym stalwart Kevin Jake 'KJ' Cataraja puts on a clinical show in dismantling his Indonesian foe Frenky Rohi in the main event of 'IDOL 3' fight card the other night at the Tabuelan Astrodome.
The 23-year-old Cataraja, a rising super flyweight contender, wisely used his speed and power to destroy Rohi at the 2:44 of round three.
With fists blazing, Cataraja scored a knockdown two times early on, and then finished off his hapless Indon opponent in the third round.
Going into the fight, Pagara wants to prove that he is a force to reckon with in his weight division and also show that he is ripe for a regional title shot.
"I am ready for another challenge," said Cataraja. "I am just happy that I won in front of my family and fans in Tabuelan."
Cataraja improved his record to a perfect 8-0, spiked with seven stoppages, while his sixth loss in 11 fights.
In the undercards, Cataraja's stable mates in Virgel Vitor and Christian Bacolod also came out victorious.
Vitor (13-1, 7KOs) won via a lopsided unanimous decision over journeyman Gerpaul Valero (22-21, 16KOs), while Bacolod (9-0, 7KOs) scored a second round technical knockout win over Mervin Lulu (5-3, 2KOs).
The rest of the results saw Jhun Ryan Quimbo (7-17) scoring an upset victory over more favored Jimmy Paypa (19-5, 7KOs), while Esneth Domingo remained unbeaten after a first round stoppage of Ryan Makiputin (13-13, 4KOs) as JR Villafuerte (1-0, 1KO) won his debut via third round KO over Tomas Rebusit (1-7, 1KO).
