Weiss, Wasle gear up for Xterra title defense

CEBU, Philippines – South African Bradley Weiss and Carina Wasle of Austria brace for a tough title defenses against determined rivals and under difficult conditions in the Xterra Danao Off-road triathlon tomorrow in Danao.

“I am incredibly excited to be returning this year as the defending champion,” said the men's pro division champion Weiss.

Like Weiss, Wasle is also ecstatic but expects a difficult challenge coming from his rivals."Xterra Danao is one of my favorite races and I’m very happy to return and I hope I can defend my title,” she said.

Xterra Danao, which is presented by the Province of Cebu and the City of Danao, features 1.5-kilometer swim, 28-kilometer bike and 8K trail run highlighting the  Danao City’s scenic mountain ranges as backdrop.

Aside from the full distance, hundreds of elite triathletes are also expected to join in the lite distance (individual and relay), a 750m swim-14km mountain bike-4km trail run and duathlon distance, a 2km trail run-14km mountain bike-4km trail run event.
