Team Joeric, Cebu City, 10K BC boxers shine in Visayas Open

CEBU, Philippines — Boxers from Team Joeric, Cebu City and 10K BC both harvested four gold medals each in the Cebu leg of Philippine Sports Commission’s ‘Visayas Open 2018’ yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Shan Oniel Abello led Team Joeric’s charge with a gold medal in the 30 kgs. class, while his teammates Clinton Martinez, Roque Villagonzalo and Aki Abello clinched the gold in the 36.1-38kgs., 50 kgs., 54 kgs. division, respectively.

Rodey Piala gave Cebu City a gold medal in the 54-60 class, while Tricia Marie Llamas topped the 44-46 kgs. girls action. Torian Magasal (34-36 kgs) and John Kevin Jimenez (42kgs) also delivered gold.

The gold medals of 10K Boxing Club were handed by Keyt Nino Abatayo (44-46 kgs), Berlan Robles (50kgs), Joselito Mancao (26-28 kgs) and Ashley Fajardo (38.1-40 kgs).

In the tennis event, University of the Visayas bets Norman Joseph Enriquez and Pherl Bless Coderos topped the boys 22-under and girls 16-under, respectively.

Vince Alforque of Naga City claimed the gold medal in the boys 16 under, while his teammate Shyne Villareal ruled the 22-under class. Douglas Maravillas of Asturias and Hela Coderos of Cebu City won the boys and girls 12-under titles.

In badminton, Grasielo Ruiz clinched the 22-under boys title, while Jhonnel Rubinos and Francisca Tagalog topped the boys and girls 16-under group. Jhondel Abucejo and Ezra Ralota won the 12-under titles.  Shawn Uy and Rodolfo De Guzman bagged the gold medal in the 22-under male doubles. Nael Cerina and Francis Solon rule the boys under 16 as Fatima Tagalog and Juvie Loca were the  girls class champions.

Meanwhile in karatedo, the gold medalists in kata are Lhiel Mark Ricablanca, Allyson Kyle Quiroga, Jerson Sanchez, Jessa Avila, Adrian Ray Ayuda and Trexie Jean Ogoc.

 Ricablanca and Quiroga also topped the kumite -84kg category. Other gold medalists in the kumite weight division are James Bryan Polangco, Rey Lendio, Earl Justine Perez, John Brent Sendrijas,

In the distaff side, Jrelle Mae Metante, Korina Keith Enclona and Ericka Ann Balanga snared gold medals.
