CEBU, Philippines - Home team Global Cebu FC and Ceres Negros FC have mixed feelings going into their hotly-anticipated Philippine Football League (PFL) showdown scheduled at 7 p.m. today at the Cebu City Sports Center.

“We are excited to play our first home match tomorrow (today). It’s a very important game for us,” said Global FC head coach Mario Allado in yesterday’s pre-game press conference at Golden Prince Hotel.

Global Cebu lost its first game against Ceres Negros, giving  Cebu’s bets extra motivation to seek vengeance.

Global Cebu skipper Patrick Deyto, for his part, is excited to be back in Cebu after all the good memories he had here when he was playing for the Philippine Azkals against Malaysia in an international friendly two years ago.

“The history of both teams give us an extra motivation. Hopefully, we can also utilize the home court advantage,” said Deyto.

But while Global Cebu FC looks forward to the match with excitement, Ceres FC’s Serbian coach Risto Vidakovic expressed disappointment about the playing field, which for him is on a bad condition.

“We would like to play a good game. But the condition of the field doesn’t look like a football field,” said Vidakovic.

“Everyone (in the team) is fit. But the field is dangerous. It’s not good for the players. So we’ll just try to survive.”

Ceres Negros team captain Martin Steuble has not seen the field himself but said that in their homecourt in Bacolod City, the Panaad Stadium, the field is very good that even after three games it is still in good shape. They are expecting it would also be same here and anywhere else.

“If we put a PFL, a national league like this, the clubs also have to step us,” Stueble said.

The Cebu Football Association though said they are doing their best to provide a good playing field and with match commissioner Richard Joson approving it himself, then the game is a go.

The Global Cebu-Ceres Negros tiff is just one of the three games this month for the home team.

Tickets are priced at P20, P100 and P200. (FREEMAN)
