Gonzales, Derder top open water swim of Tri-X
CEBU, Philippines - Davao City’s Jose Joaquin Gonzales and Daisy Mae Derder topped the open water swim of Tri-X yesterday at the Sta. Fe Beach Club in Bantayan Island.
Gonzales finished the 2-kilometer swim in 28 minutes and 31 seconds, way ahead of second placer Michael Ichiro Kong, who clocked in 31:10. Omega Pro’s Kristianne Lim finished third with the time of 33:44.
In the women’s division, Daisy Mae Derder overpowered Kimberly Dacay. Derder completed the grueling race in 48 minutes and 13 seconds. Dacay posted the time of 49:23, while Marie Geraldine Flores came in third with a 50:27 clocking.
In the road cycling action, Alvin Dela Torre dominated the men’s class. He was trailed by cousins Jaybop and Jet Pagnanawon.
In the distaff side, Louie Villacin took the top honors, while the next top spots were occupied by Arlette Maratas and Ron Lacanalale.
Michael Flores ruled class B over Alistar Lubanga as Constancio Abasola Jr. wound up third. (FREEMAN)
