UC pads lead in Cebu City Olympics
The defending champions went unassailably ahead in the secondary division with 33 gold, 19 silver and 12 bronze medals.
UC stamped its class in swimming with 15-13-4 gold-silver-bronze medals. Karen and Jobert Indaya delivered two gold medals each as Micah Marie Dela Serna and Mai Kawabata both contributed with one gold.
UC also reigned supreme in the 4X50m freestyle relay for the boys and 4X100m medley for its girls squad.
Webmasters also got a big boost from their taekwondo jins who harvested nine golds and one silver, while Marc Nicole Suson took the gold medal in the tennis event.
University of San Carlos is at far second with its 17 golds, 23 silvers and 15 bronzes followed by University of the Visayas with its 1-6-5 gold-silver-bronze medals.
In the elementary level, Unit V overtook Unit VI with its 13 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals while the latter has 9-5-4 medals. Unit VII trailed with 7-9-12 medals.
Meanwhile, swimmer Marielle Estreba established three new meet records in the elementary division. Estreba of Paref Southcrest nailed a record-establishing swim in the 100m backstroke, 50m backstroke and 100m butterfly.
In football, Don Bosco Technology Center silenced USC, 5-0 , in the elementary action, while Punta Princesa Elementary School defeated St.Theresas’ College in softball.
Punta Princesa ES also upended Labangon Elementary School in baseball as Abellana National School claimed the gold medal in the secondary action against Bonbon National High School. (FREEMAN)
