CEBU, Philippines - Fritz Arreza charted 19 points as Poblacion Occidental dethroned the twice-to-beat Pulpogan via a close 68-64 decision to advance into the championship of the inter-barangay seniors category A in the 6th Mayor Teresa P. Alegado Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion, Cebu.
Erwin Armean finished with 14 points, while Toki Pepito added 12 points for Poblacion Occidental, which will meet Lamac in the final. Rexon and Russel Moneva connived for 28 points, while Ronald Somosot had 11 in a losing effort for Pulpogan, who topped the elimination round only to be booted out by Poblacion Occidental in the semis.
Pulpogan went on to claim the third place honors after edging Pitogo, 66-60.
In the final match of the inter-barangay seniors category B, Junly Padayogdog and Joseph Pepito each scored 16 and Franie Suson banged in 15 markers as Polog forged a rubbermatch against Garing after pulling off a 75-66 win. Garing, led by Reynaldo Pardillo with 18 points, enjoys a twice-to-beat edge for coming up with a clean sweep in the classification stage.
In the SK juniors category A, Jay Sepulveda scattered 21 points, while Benedict Tibon and John Paul Boyles connived for 23 points as Tagbungan knocked out Tayud, 62-57, and in the process arranged a title showdown with Casili this Thursday night at the Tayud gym.
