CEBU, Philippines - Kim Remolino and Karen Mae Indaya won the 9th Olango Challenge yesterday at the Pacific Cebu Resort in Suba-Basbas, Lapu-Lapu City.
The 16-year-old Remolino finished the 6-kilometer open water swim in one hour, 18 minutes and 25 seconds, beating the more experienced Keith Ocampo (1:19:41).
Last year’s champion Michael Ichiro Kong of the University of Cebu-Blue Marlins landed at third place with 1:24:41 clocking.
Indaya made up for Kong’s defeat after dominating the distaff side with a time of 1:28:58. Trailing behind her is Camille Shayne Pacubis who settled for second in 1:32:40 as Trina Caneda emerged as the third placer with 1:34:22 clocking.
Meanwhile, Jericho Taal (1:21:58) and Micah Marie Dela Serna (1:27:11) had a 1-2 finish in the fun 6K class.
In the 2K action, Justin Reign Garrido (35:42) outpaced Romylin Nina (35:94) Ignacio for the top spot. Earl Jason Bilandal lorded over at the combined male and female 2K class with a time of 30:47. (FREEMAN)
