CEBU, Philippines - The fourth edition of the Giro D' Luca has attracted a record field 400 participants going out to ride around Bohol from May 20-22.
Aside from local riders, cyclists from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong have expressed their interests in joining this premier non-competitive event.
Led by Gianluca Guidicelli, the man behind the event, together with Sunrise Event, the Giro D’ Luca is a fun ride where cyclists deal with a 500 kilometers route for three days.
Though not a competition, the participants need to be very fit and ready to endure long rides under the scorching heat of the summer sun.
The first day covers a total of 200 kilometers from Bellevue Hotel in Panglao to Gindulman public market. The second day will have 158km from Bellevue Hotel to the town of Carmen near the famous Chocolate Hills and will end with a 142km ride from Bellevue to Tubigon.
Riders can go at their own pace, though organizers said they have to finish the route during sunset
Department of Tourism-Region 7 Director Rowena Montecillo fully supports the event as they believed that it likely can help boost the tourism industry of Bohol.
