CEBU, Philippines - Defending champion 1985 Legends (formerly Androids) and the 1993 Dragons bested separate foes to set up a grudge finals rematch for the Division 1 title of the University of San Carlos (USC)-NABC Sinulog Cup at the USC-North Campus gym along Gen. Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City.
The Legends proved too hot to handle against the 1990 Titans, 89-59, while the Dragons pulled off a 74-73 squeaker over the 1988 Barakos.
Former pro Lou Regidor paced the Legends with 32 points, while Virgil Pua added 21 markers. Jone Seigfred Sepe and Remir Menoza connived for 21 points underscoring the Legends' balanced attack.
James Engel Sievert nailed 25 points in a losing effort for the Titans.
Earlier, Leon Floro "Bong" Eleazar literally spewed fire with 24 points for the Dragons followed by Roy Jumao-as, Jr. with 20.
Edmund Odulio amassed 36 points and Dindo Sausa scored 20 but their efforts proved futile for the Barakos.
Meanwhile, Julius Asotigue fired 21 points as the 2010 Pioneers finished off the 2006 Fury, 66-56, to advance into the Division 3 semifinals. (FREEMAN)
