Cebuanos rule Visayas Jiu jitsu Open

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano Brazilian Jiu jitsu practitioners dominated the first Jiu jitsu Federation Visayas Regional Open at the Cebu City Sports Center over the weekend.

April Comeros of 90/EIGHT BJJ led the charge with two gold medals in the female under 60 kgs and in the female white/blue belt absolute.

Comeros’ teammate Arnel Ylanan won the gold medal in the male under 62 kgs, as Dreamer Hong, also from 90/Eight BJJ, snared the silver medal. Chad Gutierrez from Fabricio BJJ settled for bronze medal.

Aside from 90/EIGHT BJJ, another Cebu-based team in Overlimit BJJ also represented well as Jaco Immanuel Lucero grabbed the gold in the male under 69 kgs class, while Dominic Miala reigned surpreme in the male under 85 kgs.

Deftac San Carlos City’s Maria Aisa Ratcliff nabbed the gold medal in the female under 50 kgs , while Katrina Viagedor and Glaiza Tangaha both from Overlimit BJJ placed second and third, respectively.

Overlimit's Eva Marie Gamboa made up for her teammates defeat in the under 50, as she ruled the female under 55 kgs.

In the male under 62 kgs, Chad Gutierrez of Fabricio BJJ secured the gold as his teammate Noah Uychoco settled for silver, while Sharr Llera of Leverage/Tokai BJJ of Bacolod City took home the bronze. — LPM (FREEMAN)
