CEBU, Philippines – Cebuano Jerico ‘Jic-Jic’ Bohol successfully defended his title in the FCTG Open Tennis Championship in Bahrain.
Bohol won another super-singles trophy with a hard-earned victory against Gilbert Sinocruz 7-5, 4-6, 10-3.
After enjoying a first round bye, Bohol opened his bid with a 6-3, 6-3 win over a tennis player from India. In the semifinal round, Bohol silenced Cagayan de Oro's Jojo Fernandez, 6-0, 6-2 to meet Sinocruz in the finals.
Sinocruz aimed to dethrone Bohol, but the latter proved to be hungrier after failing to defend his Indian Club Open tennis tournament.
Bohol did not have a chance to go for a back-to-back title in the Indian Club Open event as he already booked a ticket for a short vacation here in Cebu.
Before the year-ender event of the FCTG, Bohol together with his sister Genalyn and other Pinoy players played against ETG Saudi.
Bohol and Gen collected two victories each but it wasn’t enough as the Pinoy netters falter against ETG Saudi, 21-29. (FREEMAN)
