CEBU, Philippines – Multi-titled tanker Raven Faith Alcoseba lit up the fire of Cebu Province's campaign for glory after fishing out two golds at the start of swimming competition in the Philippine National Youth Games-Batang Pinoy National Championships yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.
Alcoseba, a native of Talisay City, delivered CP's first gilt via the 200m backstroke with a time of two minutes and 30.42 seconds. Moments later, she topped the 400m battle with a 4:50.19 clocking.
Alcoseba's teammate Rian Mario Tirol made it a golden treble for Cebu Province at the pool after lording it over the 50m breast stroke with the time of 32.52 seconds.
Host Team Cebu City could only snatch a silver medal behind the effort of Justine Reign Garrido in the 50m breaststroke won by Lucena City's Bela Louise Magtibay with a time of 36.38 seconds.
After the first day of action in secondary swimming event, Quezon City leads the charge with seven golds and three silvers followed by Cebu Province with three golds and Manila with one gold and two silvers.
In the 12-under, Iligan City is on top of the heap with two golds followed by Quezon City with one gold, three silvers and one bronze.
Malolos had one gold and a silver, while Manila, Lucena, Puerto Princesa, and Laguna bagged one gold each. (FREEMAN)
