CEBU, Philippines – Karatekas from Cebu Province showed their might to dominate the karatedo event of the Philippine National Games-Visayas leg yesterday in Antique.
Cebu Province harvested 19 golds, 11 silvers and 12 bronzes, followed by Team Cebu City with a 5-3-3 performance.
Cebu Province’s four golds came from the team event, while seven karatekas delivered gold medals including Gerald Agustin Baclaan, DJ Mae Dente, Joan Inigo, Steffi May Tabanag and Gwen Jade Ponteros Daniel Fernandez and Marjorie Villareal tandem got a gold and a silver, while Criel Labrada, Warlito Ponteros and Maria Archien Vender secured a gold and a bronze each.
Felix Calipusan scored a double silver as Sam de Ariel Zozobrado, Micah Viscayno and Jomar Pepito settled for a silver and a bronze while Bianca Dumagil, Minerva Mercader, Vince Harvey Cabrera and Rhea Tuble nabbed a silver each.
The rest of the bronze medalists were Alexis Enad, Julie Anne Lapus and Jason Roi Manayon.
Meanwhile, Avelino Suan and Anjilo Sadili had 1-2 finish in the 30-above class kumite for Team Cebu City.
Joshua Famador added a gold and a silver for TCC while Reynante Dumao, Kent Juban, Jesah Mae Bacus got a gold each as Fausto Vallar and Sherwin Maraviles were the silver medalists and Kelvin Suan and Keisha Ruth Labiaga chipped in bronze medals. (FREEMAN)
