CEBU, Philippines – The E-League All Stars outsmarted the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu selection, 75-69, in their goodwill encounter that was the main highlight of the 11th CSCC E-League All-Star spectacle last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Ralph Belarmino topscored for E-League with 17 points on top of 12 rebounds followed by Archie Batua with 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Franco Cipriano nailed 13 markers and 10 rebounds, while Jade Seno chipped in 10 points for E-League, which actually trailed by five points at halftime, 36-31.
The E-League chargers, however, turned the tide of the match in its favor using a 22-12 run in the third period. They then neutralized SHS-Ateneo's offense in the final period to eke out a six-point victory.
Coco Tuadles had 15 points, while Jeremy Nacua finished with 11 points in a losing effort for the SHS-Ateneo selection.
In the side events, Archie Batua of the Accenture Sharks topped the Skills Challenge with the best time of 31 seconds. He later teamed up with Kyle Suerte to win the 2-ball contest with 59 points.
Gharde Malinao of Contact Solutions, on the other hand, topped the 3-point shootout with nine points.—EBV (FREEMAN)
