CEBU, Philippines- The Kyocera Frontiers stunned the Telstra-Teletech Boomerangs by the slimmest of margins, 87-86, in the 11th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Ariel Ramonito Edera exploded with 33 points and 11 rebounds, while Junrey Cabarrubias added 21 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists in an all-around show for Kyocera, which now earn a share of the second spot with its victim on identical 7-2 win-loss records.
Ryan Paul Abordonado finished with 19 points and eight rebounds, even as three others cashed in double figures but their efforts went to waste for Telstra dropped.
In the other Evo League match, Ralph Belarmino unloaded a season-high 47 points spiked with 15 rebounds as the 24/7 Cagers blasted the Teletech Titans, 93-85.
Jan Michael Cipres chipped in 10 markers, hauled eight rebounds and passed out three assists for 24/7, which improved its win-loss record to 4-5 in a tie with the Calltek Trojans.
Jonas Concepion fired 40 points laced with nine assists and four steals, while Jervis Pino Sildura churned out 20 points and swatted away six attempts but to no avail as Teletech crashed to its seventh loss against only two wins.
In the lone Elite Classic duel, the Convergys Converters banked on a balanced attack to crush the Wipro Tigers, 86-66.
Lourenz Limpangog finished with 15 points, while Sherwin Resilla and Franz Dione Dysam conspired for 24 points for the Converters, who never looked back after racing to a 24-15 start en route to nailing its sixth win in eight starts.
Clifford Amarado banged in 29 points followed by Franz Martinez with 11 points and as many rebounds, but they could not prevent the Tigers from absorbing their fourth loss against the same number of wins. (FREEMAN)
