Lucky seven for Lexmark in CSCC E-League
CEBU, Philippines – The Lexmark Stallions blew away the Sykes Pioneers, 80-69, to stay as the only unbeaten team in the 11th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
Sylvester Millevo had 16 points and Ralph Loren Martinez nailed 15 markers for Lexmark, which dictated the pace of the match after an 18-13 start on the way to notch its seventh straight win. They drew huge support from Jan Oneil Sahilan with 13 points on top of seven steals and three rebounds.
Frederick Montelibano posted 20 points, seven rebounds and three steals but went home on a pensive mood as Sykes suffered its sixth loss against only one victory.
In the other Elite Classic games, Ildefonso Bulangis, Jr. fired 25 points as the Accenture Sharks vanquished the SSI Warriors, 73-62, while Esrom Cuizon, Jr. netted 17 points on top of 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals to power the ePerformax Reds to a 63-49 whacking of the listless Convergys Blue Devils.
Archie Batua chipped in 13 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, while Julian Kyle Suerte also scored 13 laced with four steals and three assists for Accenture, which used a blistering 42-29 assault in the final half to the turn the tables on SSI.
Miguel Lorenzo Calo added 10 points, five rebounds and three steals as Accenture bettered its win-loss card to 5-2.
Lawrence Daven Agas had 18 points, six assists, five steals and four rebounds, but his all-around show was again put to waste as SSI suffered its fifth setback in seven starts.
On the other hand, Rafael Jose Cuico backed up Cuizon with 10 points for ePerformax,which brought the Blue Devils down on both knees after taking a 34-17 lead at halftime. ePerformax now totes a 2-5 slate, while the Blue Devils further wallowed at the cellar without a win in seven starts.
In the lone Evo League match, Sam Jordan Hermosa sparkled with 31 points, 17 rebounds, nine steals, seven assists and four blocks in an amazing show that vaulted the Telstra-Teletech Boomerangs to a 92-76 thrashing of the Author Solutions, Inc. Hardbacks.
John Rey Jacaban added 10 points as Telstra notched its seventh victory against only one loss, while dealing ASI its fourth defeat in seven games. — EBV (FREEMAN)
