CEBU, Philippines - Revenge is definitely at the back of Joey Canoy’s mind as he battles Jerry Tomogdan of Valencia City, Bukidnon in a grudge rematch for the Asian Boxing Federation minimum weight title headlining the ‘Binakbakay sa Punta Princesa’ fightcard this Sunday night at the Atillo Gym in Barangay Punta,Princesa, Cebu City.
Now fighting as Canoy J. Singwangcha, Canoy (9-1-1, 3KOs) suffered his first and only career loss by majority decision at the hands of Tomogdan (17-6-3,9Kos) last January 12 at the Barangay Tablon Gymnasium in Cagayan de Oro City.
Canoy quickly got back to the winning track though with a six-round unanimous decision victory over Jonathan Ricablanca last June 12 at the La Proa Ballroom of L’ Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City.
Tomogdan, for his part, went on to fight and lost by ninth round knockout to Thai champion Wanheng Manayothin in their WBC minimumweight championship bout just two months ago in Bangkok, Thailand.
In the supporting main event of the slambang show presented by Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha and Cebuano topnotch promoter Rex “Wakee” Salud, undefeated lightweight prospect Ardie Boyose Singwangcha (15-0-2,11KOs)will slug it out with Phil Angcamor (13-23-3,7KOs) of Bukidnon in a 10-rounder.
