CEBU, Philippines – Considered as one of the MS Motosuit “babies” Jubenile Abellar finally got something he truly deserves as he was declared as the ‘Rider of the Year’ for the 2014 edition of the annual race during the MS Motosuit Motocross Series Awards Night last Saturday at the Teatro Casino in Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
The organizers of the MS Motosuit Motocross Series led by sportsman and Calambua Barangay Captain Lou Ornopia gave Jubenile the well-deserved award among all the other top achievers.
The 26 year-old Abellar’s victory came out even sweeter as he beat one of his riding buddies Jon-Jon Adlawan by just two points in the pro and expert’s class.
Abellar is one of the local riders who started at the peewee division before competing in higher divisions.
Jubenile’s proud father, Jubal Abellar, one of Cebu’s pioneering motocross riders accepted the award in behalf of his son who is currently having an out-of-town race.
A few years back, Jubenile’s older brother Jubannie also got the same accolade, making them the first siblings to get the same ROY award.
The other top performers of 2014 edition were the crowd darling John Floes who reigned supreme in the intermediate division, Jonathan Cuyos in the executive C, JayR Gualiza in the underbone, Alex Abalo for the local enduro, JP Cuesta for the beginners open production and Roscel Gungob as double overall champion in the executive A and B.
BJ Pepito, for his part, remains the top rider in the mini 85cc for the fourth straight time as 11-year-old Keith Lloyd Abrenica dominated the mini 65cc division as Jed Luna lorded over at the open enduro and novice open production. (FREEMAN)
