CEBU, Philippines – Team Cebu City Niños, powered by the Blue Marlins, posted back-to-back victories after ruling the advanced competition of the 1st Sandugo Age-group Swimfest at the Carlos P. Garcia Sports and Cultural Complex in Tagbilaran City.
Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu’s Val Andre Chiu and University of Cebu’s Shane Allyne Pareja grabbed six golds apiece on the way to clinch the most bemedalled swimmer awards in their respective classes.
Michael Ichiro Kong also emerged as the best in his category after carting away five golds and a bronze.
Bright Academy’s Jehaosh Reign Garrido contributed five golds, while Don Bosco Technology Center’s Quintin Zee Sabalande, Tabunok Central School’s Mike Gabriellse de la Serna and Fritz Tamara got four golds each. The other gold medal contributors were Nick Enrico Micarsos and Jeibi Oriesga.
In the distaff side, 11 other wards of coach Rolando Alvarez made a splashing performance led by Romylin Nina Ignacio, Karen Mae Indaya, Zurielle Kenze Galo and Isabella Marie Deihl with four golds each.
Mai Kawabata grabbed three golds and a bronze, while Trina Cañeda got two golds and four silvers. The others who won gold were Bencynth Ghail Luage, Justine Reign Garrido, and Lindsay Ann Gonzales. They also came out as the most outstanding swimmers in the categories they are entered. (FREEMAN)
