Santa Fe Beach Games revs off today

CEBU, Philippines - The 16th Santa Fe Beach Games goes full blast today at Sugar Beach Resort in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island.

The fun-filled event organized by GAME (Go Active Marketing and Events) features the twilight beach run, beach soccer, open water swim, oceanman and banca competition.

The beach soccer, which will be contested today alongside the twilight run, is a 5-a-side tournament with 15 teams seeing action.

Each team is composed of a maximum of 10 members, both male and female being a mixed category. On the other hand, the twilight beach run is a 5-kilometer race.

Tomorrow's schedule includes the 5K open water swim, while the oceanman, a run-swim tilt, is set for Black Saturday.

In the oceanman, athletes will take on a 200-meter run then 100m swim and back for four loops. Easter Sunday is intended for the local island banca competition.

Cash prizes and medals will be given away to the top performers. — (FREEMAN)
