CEBU, Philippines- The Muay Thai Association of the Philippines-Cebu Chapter will hold a month-long summer clinic starting April 6 at the 4th floor of Coast Pacific Downtown Center just across the UC-Main campus along Sanciangko Street, this city.
Muay Thai is a popular combat sport that originated in Thailand. It uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques.
It is also known as "the art of eight limbs" because it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, shins, being associated with a good physical preparation that makes a full-contact fighter very efficient.
Muay Thai is one of the foundations of the growing sport of mixed martial arts because of its excellent stand-up techniques.
Aside from self- defense, Muay Thai can also be used a a good means of physical fitness. Children young as five years old can join the clinic. Joining and assisting in the said summer clinic is two-time Batang Pinoy National Finals gold medalist in Muay Thai Ken 'Shaolin' Caniga.
