CEBU, Philippines - Cebu’s mixed martial arts enthusiasts get a chance to hone their skills in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as Deftac-Cebu opens their second gym on February 16 at the Ezone Paseo in F. Cabahug Street, Barangay Mabolo, this city.
This is Deftac-Cebu’s second location. Other gym includes the one located at the fourth floor of Manrose Building, Mango Avenue.
Deftac-Cebu is the first BJJ gym in Cebu and it is also one of the most successful teams in the Philippines. With this expansion, Deftac-Cebu hopes to touch more lives and help others be fit. For being healthy is not only by being slim but it is about gaining strength and confidence which BJJ gives.
"BJJ is a grappling art that focuses on ground work. Above all else though, it highlights the need for technique over physical attributes of a person (strength, speed, size),” said Deftac-Cebu head Norman Go.
“The impact of BJJ goes beyond the sport; it transcends into a person's day to day interactions with people; that idea pretty much teaches you honesty, discipline, respect, and above else is that hard work pays off."
Deftac-Cebu‘s offers BJJ classes on Mondays to Thursdays from 7:30-9:30 p.m., while women’s class are on Fridays. Those who prefer morning schedules may want to take the classes every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
