CEBU, Philippines - Hosting the 5th Sinulog Arnis Championship proved rewarding for the Cebu Technological University as the promising eskrimadors from CTU topped the one-day tilt staged last Friday.
The CTU bets hauled nine golds and a dozen silvers to take home the overall crown. They were closely followed by the Mandaue Stick Fighting Club with eight golds and five silvers, while Banilad Eskrima Club came out third with seven golds and two silvers.
Ronda Eskrima Club was fourth with six golds and three silvers. Rounding up the top 10 finishers were Magkuno Diamond Eskrima Club with two golds and three silvers, NARAAS with two golds and two silvers, San Miguel Eskrima Club-Olango with one gold and three silvers, Abellana Eskrima Club with one gold and one silver, Labangon Eskrima Club with three silvers, Badian Eskrima Club and KSDB with one silver each.
The event served as a qualifying tournament to select the member of the Philippine Team to the 14th World Arnis Championship slated next year.
It was organized by Doce Pares International under the leadership of Supreme Grandmaster Diony Cañete, ODL (Order of Datu Lapu-Lapu) and Master Gerald Cañete in association with CTU through Cesario Perez.— EBV (FREEMAN)
