CEBU, Philippines – It's all systems go for the 5th Sinulog Arnis Tournament this Friday at the Cebu Technological University-Main Campus along MJ Cuenco Avenue, Cebu City. The event is presented by Doce Pares and the Cebu Eskrima Group in cooperation with CTU.
Due to the expected huge turnout of entries, the organizers led by World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (WEKAF) Executive Director Gerald Canete of Doce Pares and Cesario Perez of CTU have decided to limit the number of players to not more than 120.
Some 20 players from Manila, however, have been assured of slots in the tournament since they had signified their intention to compete since early December last year.
The one-day tilt will be highlighted by the demonstration of some top Grandmasters and Masters, who will be in attendance as they have some players entered in the first arnis competition of the year.
Mayor Butch Sepulveda of Borbon, an avid supporter and practitioner of Eskrima, has been invited as special guest of the event.
Sepulveda, who is an active member of Nickle Stick Balintawak, is also fielding in a team from his town to participate in the tournament that draws intense interest since it also serves as a qualifying event to select the member of the Philippine Team to the 14th World Arnis Championship slated next year.
