CEBU, Philippines – The ERCO BRO Nationals failed to snatch the coveted men's open title, but still has something to cheer about as it bagged two titles at the close of the 5th Sinulog Football Festival the other night at the San Roque Parish field in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
The ERCO booters of coach Glenn Ramos grabbed the ladies open crown after edging out the equally-talented St. Monica FC, 1-0, in the championship. They made it a golden double after beating San Roque FC in the penalty shootout, 2-1, in the 38-above final.
It the men's open final, though, ERCO-BRO fell prey to the Rising Sun, 2-1.
On the other hand, Timex and San Miguel FC snared one title each.
San Miguel topped the inter-company division after defeating Leylam FC, 1-0, while Timex bagged the champion's trophy in the inter-BPO after prevailing over Lexmark FC, 1-0.
Earlier, Don Bosco Technology Center claimed two titles through the under-9 and under-11 categories. The other age-group winners were Paref Springdale (boys 18), University of the San Carlos-BED (boys under-13), Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (boys 15), Tabor Hills girls 15 and St. Theresa's College-Team B (girls 18).
