CEBU, Philippines - The girls of Tabor Hills snatched the first title available in the 5th Sinulog Cup football festival via the girls’ under-15 class yesterday at the San Roque Parish Football field in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Tabor Hills girls squad defeated the gutsy Spartans lady booters, 1-0 in the finals to go home with the crown.
In the boys' side, Paref Springdale dominated the boys' under-18 division against the unpredictable Abellana National School-Pomeroy. Paref Springdale took control of the tempo of the game en route to a 3-1 win against ANS-Pomeroy.
The University of San Carlos-BED also outsmarted Dynamo FC to win the under-13 division with a 2-0 triumph via penalty shootout. Both USC and Dynamo were scoreless in the regulation period resulting to a shootout.
Meanwhile the girls'18 and the boys'15 action had been halted temporarily as off this writing as they are still awaiting for the lighting of the venue to resume the game.
The second day of the tournament will feature seven categories including the mixed under-9 division, men's open, inter-company, inter-BPO and the men's 38-above.
Organizers are expecting teams to make adjustments with their travel plans to the venue due to avoid forfeiture with its games since most of Cebu City's major roads will be closed to traffic until 9 a.m. due to the Cebu Marathon 2015 starting and ending at the Cebu IT Park. (FREEMAN)
