CEBU, Philippines - It’s all systems go for the fifth edition of the Sinulog Football Festival slated on January 10-11 at the San Roque Parish field in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
The organizers confirmed that 130 teams are participating in this annual tournament sanctioned by Cebu Football Association.
Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, Paref-Springdale and the University of San Carlos are the teams that will be competing in all age-groups.
The men's open, under-9, 13, 15 and 18 have the most number of entries with 15 followed by the under-11 class with 12. The men’s 38-above class and inter-BPO drew eight teams each, while the inter-company division has six.
In the distaff side, the ladies open has attracted six squads, the under-15 has seven, while the under-18 has eight.
The event serves as one of the highlights of the Sinulog festival.
Aside from football, hundreds of runners are also expected to join in the 2015 Sinulog Fun Run starting and ending at the Cebu City Sports Center today.
The race was originally scheduled last December 30, but the organizers moved it to a later date due to tropical depression ‘Seniang.’ (FREEMAN)
