Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  Seeing running as a way to promote awareness on violence against women and children, the Cebu 1 Zonta Club will stage the first ever ‘Run for Zonta says No’ on November 23 at the Terraces grounds of Ayala Center Cebu.

Cebu 1 Zonta Club is part of the Zonta International, a non-government global organization of women executives and professionals working together to improve the legal, professional, political and economic status of women worldwide.

The race, which features the 3K, 5K and 10K, is a fund-raiser that aims to build a center for women and children who are victims of abuse.

“Our goal in hosting the race is to support the ‘Zonta says No’, It’s an international campaign that raises awareness and increase actions to end violence against women and girls around the world,” said Cebu Zonta 1 Club officer Beverly Dayanan in a press conference yesterday at the Choobi Choobi restaurant.

The organizers are expecting close to 2000 runners to participate in the event including students from different universities here in Cebu. Over P40, 000 in cash prize will be given away to the top performers in each category.

Registration fee is pegged at P300 for 3K, P400 for 5K and P500 for 10K inclusive of a race shirt, bib and post-race refreshments.

Entry forms are available at Cebu City Sports Center, RUNNER Shop in Ayala Active Zone, HP Store at the Cyberzone of SM City Cebu and My Pet Station along Tres Borces Street in Barangay Mabolo. (FREEMAN)
