Blue Devils grab Division 2 title in E-League

CEBU, Philippines – The Convergys 2 Blue Devils upended the ePeformax Reds, 66-57, in the rubbermatch of their best-of-three finals series to win the Division 2 title of the 10th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Clifford Amarado had 17 points, four assists and three steals for the Blue Devils, who launched an explosive opening assault on the way to post a  16-point advantage, 37-21, at halftime.

After the short break, Eperformax woke up from deep offensive slumber, retaliating with a 23-9 blast to trim the deficit down to just two points, 44-46, entering the final 10-minute mark of the contest.

The Blue Devils, however, rebuffed any comeback hopes by ePerformax in the windup to scrape through a six-point victory.

Convergys 2, thus, earned the right to challenge Division 1 titlist and defending champion Telepeformance Vipers in the best-of-theee championship battle that will start on November 8 yet as the league will take a one-week break in observance of the All Souls and All Saints Day. — EBV) (FREEMAN)
