CEBU, Philippines - Cebu running enthusiasts get a chance to help victims of child abuse and child pornography in the third edition of Gaisano Country Mall’s anniversary run on October 26.
More than being part of its 21st anniversary celebration, the organizers are excited about having this fund-raising activity event for the benefit of sexually abused children as well as victims of human trafficking through the initiative of the CURE (Club in Unity for Restoration through Empowerment) Foundation.
Fitness buffs have the option to race in either in the 5K, 10K, 15K and 21K categories. “Last year, we offer them (CURE) them gift certificates for their foundation. This year, we will offer them cash to help in the construction of the abused children’s orphanage,” said Charmaine Suson, Gaisano Country Mall’s marketing manager.
Bananas and chocolates will be given to the 15 and 21K participants during the race, while cosplayers will spice up the race. There will also be a free massage, zumba, fireworks and photo booth after the race.
A total of P80,000 in cash prize is at stake for the top performers in each division. The first 200 finishers in the 15K and all the finishers in the 21K will receive a specially-designed finisher’s medal.
Registration fee is pegged at P350 for 5K, P450 for 10K, P550 for 15K and P650 for 21K inclusive of singlet, post-race refreshments, loot bag and a raffle ticket.
