Olango ultra race set this saturday

CEBU, Philippines – After a couple of postponements, the second edition of the Olango My Get-Away Ultramarathon will finally push through this Saturday night at Barangay Talima in Olango Island.

“Although this had been postponed twice because of conflict of schedule with other activities, we are making sure this pushes through as part of our eco-tourism promotion with Olango as a new frontier,” said Lapu-Lapu City's tourism head Hembler Mendoza in a press conference yesterday at Siam Restaurant in Marina Mall.

This is the second ultra-marathon that Lapu-Lapu is hosting in a span of only one week. The Olango action, however, will take place  within the island only unlike the Warrior 50 which went outside of Lapu-Lapu. It covers 50 kilometers of road running.

Over 30 ultra racers have already confirmed their entries including four who competed in the Warrior 50, said Cebu Ultramarathoners’ Club’s Tony Calon.

The organizers will be giving away prizes not only to the top five runners in both  men and women’s division, but also to the barangays who have the liveliest cheers, best in booth and most creative.  (FREEMAN)
