UC junior girls take lead in PTL tourney

CEBU, Philippines - The University of Cebu jins took the lead in the junior girls’ division in the third edition of the Philippine Taekwondo League (PTL)-Cebu staged recently at SM Consolacion.

UC’s junior girl’s Team B zooms to the snatch the solo leadership in the standing with a perfect 3-0 record.

After winning its first assignment last Sunday, UC jins racked up two more wins at the expense of Cabancalan National High School, 39-15, followed by another convincing win against the University of San Carlos, 47-31.

Meanwhile, UC’s senior Team B score their first win against their team A, 53-49 under the men’s senior division of the tag-team type taekwondo tournament.  UC-B has now a 1-1 win-loss record.

UC’s Team C, for their part, went off to a good start after taking away a 69-53 triumph against Southwestern University.

In the junior boys’ side, UC posted a lopsided 39-14 win against Holy Name University of Bohol.

University of San Carlos, won against CNHS in the other match, 69-42. SWU improved to 2-0 record with a 50-36 annihilation of USC in the cadet boys’ action.

The next outing in the PTL-Cebu is set September 14 according to tournament director Avenger Alob.

The battle, conceptualized by Grandmaster Hong Chun Sung, chief instructor of the Philippine Taekwondo Association with Monsour Del Rosario serving as commissioner, takes place every Sunday at SM-Consolacion. It will run until November.   (FREEMAN)
