CEBU, Philippines - Yaw-Yan ArDigma Martial Arts Federation, Inc. continues to bring Mixed Martial Arts in Cebu to a new level as it ties up again with SkyCable, making the country's leading cable network as its official media partner for the first edition of Cebu Extreme Fight League dubbed as ‘The Beginning’ on August 16 at the Cebu Coliseum.
The partnership was sealed through a contract signing between Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu CEO/Founder Master Benigno “Ekin” R. Caniga Jr. and SkyCable Airtime Executive Marivic Betonio yesterday at the Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu headquarters.
Being the official media sponsor, SkyCable will be showing a delayed telecast of Cebu Extreme Fight League, the first ever amateur MMA series in the region. SkyCable will also air teasers and primer for the slambang MMA event.
“In partnering once again with SkyCable, I am hoping to boost the popularity of MMA here in Cebu. This is the second time that they partnered with us and I hope that it would be as successful as the Ground and Pound event last year,” said Master Ekin.
The first offering of Cebu Extreme Fight League presents another action-packed MMA show as Caniga aims to head-hunt talents and develop aspiring MMA warriors who are potential enough to represent Cebu in amateur tournaments in Manila.
In the main event, Cebuano ground and pound specialist Lando ‘Alamid’ Nacua of Team Yaw-Yan ArDigma will slug it out with French striker Paul ‘The French’ Carrere from Unified Mixed Martial Arts.
In equally exciting supporting bout, Roy ‘Agilon’ Bajar of Yaw-Yan Cimaron MMA will face amateur veteran Niño Rio ‘Tatus’ Saoy.
Other weight classes to be contested in the grassroots MMA tournament include straweight (115 lbs.), flyweight (125 lbs.), bantamweight (135 lbs.), featherweight (145 lbs.) and lightweight (155 lbs.). There will also be special categories for women and kids. (FREEMAN)
