CEBU, Philippines- Joey Mari de Guzman tossed in 12 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter as the ePerformax Reds outlasted the Wipro Tigers, 67-57, to stay unbeaten in the 10th CSCC E-League men’s basketball tournament last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
ePerformax led by only five after three quarters, 43-38, but De Guzman timely stepped on the scoring plate, churning out a dozen points spiked with a pair of back-breaking triples to negate any comeback attempts by Wipro in the closing minutes of the contest.
Angellan Visoc had 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals for ePerformax, which extended its sizzling streak to five games in a row.
John Paul Escudero also waxed hot in the final period where he charted 12 of his 18 points – all from the 3-point land – but his efforts proved futile for Wipro.
On the other hand, Mark Alvarez had 22 points, nine rebounds and four assists as the Convergys 1 Wolves whipped the Supportsave Dragons, 67-55.
