CEBU, Philippines - Irenedin Lepatan snatched the gold in pencak silat for Team Cebu in the 2014 Philippine National Games in Manila yesterday.
Lepatan won the gold medal in the Female Artisitic Tunggal beating Zamboanga’s Emraida Hernandez and April Nevarez of Navotas who settled for silver and bronze medal, respectively.
Lepatan hopes that the win will give him a slot in the national team to compete in international tournaments.
In the dragon boat event, two Cebuanos in Luis Ansag and Jeffrey Sinangote who are included in team Pyrus won the men’s 500m open.
Meanwhile, Young archer Vincent Villa also delivered a gold and silver in the national evaluation for the national training pool in Dumaguete City.
With his great potential, the 16-year-old Villa was advised to push through with his in the PNG this weekend in Novaliches.
Cyclist John Rene Mier, on the other hand, said joining the mountain bike event of the PNG where he won silver doesn't mean he is no longer interested in track cycling. (FREEMAN)
