CEBU, Philippines - The 16th edition of The View Invitational tees off on May 22 at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo, Cebu City.
This is a four-day, 36-hole event with each team to be composed of a club member and a guest.
The Modified Stableford Scoring System will be used but players will only be allowed to use three-fourths of their lowest handicap for the period of March to May this year.
Guests, whose clubs are not part of the Unified National Handicapping System (UNHS) are required to submit a club certified handicap prior to teeing off. Those who cannot submit the required handicap certification before they would tee off for the first round would be given a handicap of zero for the tournament.
The scoring format awards six points for a net double-eagle, five for a net ace, four for a net eagle, three for a net birdie, two for a net par, and one for a net bogey.
A player who is playing for no more point must pick up to avoid a two-point penalty for each infraction for delaying play.
Over 400 players have signed up for the event, which is Alta Vista’s signature tournament. The tournament has been named The View Invitational owing to the spectacular sights that you can see from the course and clubhouse that has been carved on the hills of southern Cebu City.
A windfall awaits players who will score an ace on any of the par-3 holes. The prizes at stake for a hole-in-one are a brand new Foton pick-up, a lot from Santa Lucia Realty, a golf cart from Club Car, a Sunriser motorcycle from Norkis Trading, a set of Cobra irons from Dynamic Sports, a trip to Singapore from Marist Royal Holidays, first bet coupons from Pagcor, a trip to Korea from Air Busan, an atmospheric water generator from San Gabriel Metal Arts, and a weekend stay at Moevenpick Hotel.
The tournament committee will officially assign the prizes to the five par-3 holes of the par-72 layout.
There will also be a Skygo motorcycle at stake for an eagle on any par-4 hole.
In case more than one player will win a particular hole-in-one or eagle prize, such will be shared equally.
There will be prizes for the teams with the lowest overall net and gross scores. There will also be specially-made plaques for the top three teams of class A, class B, and class C categories.
The lowest gross and net winners of the seniors’ class as well as the two runner-up teams based on net scores will also receive the specially-made plaques. To qualify for the seniors’ category, both players of the team must be at least 55 years old and their total age must not be less than 120 years.
The pairings will be released on May 16.
The tournament committee headed by club director Vicente Go was forced to schedule a shotgun tee off for all four days of the tournament due to the overwhelming number of entries.
The scheduled start will be at 6 a.m. and 12 noon on each day. Players are advised to be at the venue not less than 30 minutes before the shotgun start to allow ample time to register.
Giveaways for the tournament will be a pair of FootJoy golf shoes for each player as well as gift packs from Profood and Shaldan. (PR from www.fullpointcebu.com)
