CEBU, Philippines - The University of Southern Philippines Foundation represented by the tandem of Edmar Bonono and Edward Ybanez rule the men’s division of the 2014 Nestea Beach Volleyball-‘Battle of Champions’ yesterday at the Boracay beach.

Bonono and Ybanez outlasted Hachaliah Gilbuena and Johnrel Amora of the University of Mindanao-Tagum in straight sets, 21-14, 21-12, to win the title after University of the Visayas failed in its grandslam bid.

Before the finals match, Gilbuena and Amora scored an upset win against UV of Jade Becalde and Mark Anthony Fernandez, 28-26, 21-19 in the crossover semifinals.

UV came out third at the expense of Southwestern University's Rommel Pepito and Relan Taneo, 21-19, 21-16.

SWU, however, bounced back with their female counterparts Therese Rae Ramas and Florimel Rodriguez ending out third after dethroning defending champion Central Philippines University, 21-18, 21-14.
