Cebuano wrestler sizzles in dragonboat race

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano wrestler and Coach Luis Ansag took a time off from wrestling to fish out a silver and two bronzes in the Boracay International Dragonboat Festival recently in the Paradise Island.

Ansag of Team Pyros snared a silver in the mixed 500-meter competition.

Ansag and fellow Cebuano Jeffrey Sinangote hauled two more bronzes in the men's open 500-meter and masters mixed category. They also came out fourth both in the men's open and masters 250-meter action.

The race drew over hundred entries and clubs including from Hong Kong, Singapore, Bulgaria, Malaysia and North America.

Ansag now shifts his focus in dragonboat event of the Philippine National Games in Laguna.

Aside from that, the multi-titled Ansag is also waiting for the green light to compete in a wrestling-related tilt later this year in Iran. — (FREEMAN)
