Brillo, Saraum reach finals of Talisay beach volley

CEBU, Philippines - Multi-titled Jusabelle Brillo and Apple Saraum crushed Jessa Marie Jorquia and Irene Sasil to book a final ticket in the 2014 Talisay City Beach Volleyball Invitational Competition yesterday at the landing site in Brgy. Poblacion, Talisay City.

The University of the Visayas (UV)-sponsored Brillo and Saraum used their precise attacks and solid defense to beat the University of San Jose Recoletos duo of Jorquiao and Sasil, 25-9 in the crossover.

Brillo and Saraum will face University of Southern Philippines Foundation's Rochelle Rica and Gelly Murpos in the championship set this Wednesday.

Rica and Murpos, for their part, defeated Southwestern University's (SWU) Florence Rodriguez and Charrylou Wave Paden, 25-15.

In the men's class, UV’s Jade Becaldo and Louijei Tipgos also advanced to the finals with a 25-21 win against USJR’s Owen Belen and Alastair Ian Gairanod.

SWU’s Jerson Belen and Alastair Ian Gairanod completed the other half of the finalists with their hard-earned win against the tandem of John Tormis and Edmar Bonono of USPF.— (FREEMAN)
