Tubigon FC defeats USC in Thirsty bootfest

CEBU, Philippines - Tubigon FC claimed the throne in the boys’ 20 division with a thrilling 6-5 shootout victory against the University of San Carlos-B in the 11th Thirsty Football Cup yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) football field.

Tubigon and USC booters ended the regulation period on a scoreless draw that paved way to a shootout with the Bol-anons led by Most Valuable Player Mark Mabosa edging their counterpart to win one of the seven titles available in the event.

Other visiting squads also won titles with the Minuluan FC of Negros Oriental snaring the girls’ under-18 crown over Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, 5-4, while San Carlos City FC also triumphant in their campaign against Lady Knights of Davao.

USC was able to bounce back as they score 1-2 finish in the girls’20 division. USC White led by Aracha Trebol earned a total of 10 points in a league-type action against USC-Green with seven points.

USC White scored three straight wins against Blitz, CTU and Silliman University. USC White and Green’s match resulted in a scoreless draw.

Bright Academy ruled the mixed under-7 division claiming the title over early favorite, Don Bosco Technology Center-B.

Bright Academy earned eight points at the end of their campaign with 2-2 win-draw record. DBTC-B and A both ended with seven points each, but B got the second place over its team A after earning the higher goal difference.

In the 38-above bracket, KN Ferraren won the title with a 2-1 triumph over Share-Share FC. The remaining games in this Cebu Football Association (CFA)-sanctioned events are the under-11, under-15, under-18 and premiere men's and ladies' open.  (FREEMAN)
