‘Run to Rebuild Bogo’ set January 26

CEBU, Philippines - Cornerstone Group will spearhead a charity event billed as ‘Run to Rebuild Bogo’ on January 26 at Parkmall grounds.

Featuring the 3K, 7K, and 14K categories, the race is for the benefit of typhoon Yolanda survivors in Bogo.

Proceeds will be used in rebuilding homes and providing livelihood programs for the families affected by the super storm that devastated northern Cebu.

“Bogo really needs help after the damage brought by typhoon Yolanda to the city last year,” said Steve Maniquis of Cornerstone Group in a press conference yesterday at the Rajah Park Hotel. “The proceeds will be used in buying construction materials for the Bogo people and also giving them ways to earn money.”

“I am thankful that many people are trying to give help to Bogo. After the calamity, we want to show that we are moving forward,” said Bogo City Mayor Celestino "Junnie" E. Martinez, Jr.

The organizers will also be putting a donation booth in Parkmall during race day.

Aside from specially-designed medals, cash prizes and gift certificates will also be given away to the top performers in the 7K and 14K. The 3K category is purely a fun run.

Registration fee is pegged P300 for the 3K, P400 for the 7K, and P500 for the 14K inclusive of a singlet, post-race refreshments and a raffle stub. Runners will get a P100 discount in the registration fee if they opt to run without a singlet. Entry forms are available at Parkmall. (FREEMAN)
