UV leads four-team cast in Toledo caging

CEBU, Philippines - Reigning CESAFI champions University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers are the odds-on favorite in the four-team field of the 1st Mayor Sonny Osmeña Cup Inter-Collegiate Basketball Tournament set from December 18 to 21 at the Barba Sports Complex in  Toledo City.

Billed as "Halad sa Pasko sa Toledohanon," the four-day joust offers a total cash prize of P180,000 to the top performing teams.

Aside from UV, the other contending squads are the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, Goodson College Basketball, and host Toledo Collegiate All-Stars under the tutelage of coach Elmer "Boy" Cabahug.

They will play in a single round robin format, with the top two teams automatically slugging it out for the championship.

The games will be supervised by tournament director Jimboy Tiongco and commissioner Estoy Jaranilla. (FREEMAN)
