Spike for a Cause to aid typhoon victims

CEBU, Philippines - Teams ePerformax and Volleyholics ruled last weekend’s Innodata Sports—Spike for a Cause event that gathered relief goods for the residents of Barangay Sungko, Santa Fe, Bantayan Island.

The two-day event was held at the Innodata Multi-Purpose Court in Subangdaku, Mandaue City and to join the event, the entry fee came in the form of rice, canned goods, and bottled water.

In the men’s division ePerformax survived a four-set thriller against Skywalkers, 29-27, 25-20, 17-25, and 25-20.

Results of the tournament were announced by Vincent Joel Gagno, Innodata sports manager, who co-organized the event with Innodata coach Florante Lapa.

Players of the Innodata volleyball team, three-time Inter-BPO champion in the men’s division, served as referees for the tournament.

In the women’s division, Volleyholics also needed four sets to dispatch of Innodata, 25-23, 25-22, 18-25, 25-14 to take the crown.

Angellan Visoc of ePerformax was named MVP of the men’s division while the winner of the distinction for the distaff side was Lori Mae Layno of Volleyholics.

Vance Fernandez of Skywalkers was the best spiker for the men while for the women it was Mona Dubduban of Volleyholics.

The best blocker for the men’s side was Arlo Millang of ePerformax and that for the women’s class was Apple Saraum of Innodata.

Gagno said that the other participants were from Sykes Asia, Pink Pirates, and Qualfon.
