CEBU, Philippines - Kenyan Isaac Simat and Meirez Ramirez shone the brightest in the Elizabeth Hotel’s 2nd Royal Run yesterday at the Terraces of Ayala Center-Cebu.
Simat topped the 21K half-marathon race in 1 hour, 14 minutes and seven seconds.
Another Kenyan runner Douglas Mwiti trailed Simat with the time of 1:17:20, while James Mibei came out third with a 1:18:06 clocking.
In the distaff side, Ramirez rules the women’s open with a time of in 1:40:59. Mary Jane Beboso placed second in 1:50:29, while little-known Odessa Abella landed third in 1:54:25.
Sisters Lovely Fe and Jean Andrin had a 1-2 finish in the 10-kilometer race after posting 54:39 and 54:40 respectively as Carla Kosep wound up third with 54:49 clocking.
Another Kenyan, Abraham Missos was the fastest in the 10K men’s class with a time of 32:14. Prince Lee finished second in 32:50, followed by Robert Daang in 38:37.
The fast-rising Andrin, Cherry lorded it over in the 5K in 18:39, while Riza Bausin was second in 19:19. Former Cebu road running queen Christy Sevellino-Tutor grabbed the third spot with the time of 19:54.
Darrel Manuz stole part of the limelight by lording it over in the 5K men’s category. He finished the race in 17 minutes and 38 seconds. Joel Delposo landed at second in 17:38 followed by Monching Bongkiat in 21:14. (FREEMAN)
