CEBU, Philippines - Innodata and Convergys bagged the top honors in the recently concluded Spike Sports Volleyball League: Innodata-Skywalkers Cup 1st Conference played at the HVG Arcade in Mandaue City.
The tournament was participated in by nine teams each in the men’s and women’s divisions.
Innodata topped the men’s category blasting away Aegis via a three-set sweep in the final match, 25-20, 25-21, 25-22. The team finished the elimination round at second spot, but turned things around as it upended Aegis.
Tournament MVP Vanz Mendigo led the Innodata offense. Skipper Heintjie Tomales also bagged a special award as the best blocker.
Other special awardees for the men’s division were Gelan Visoc of ePerformax as the best defensive player, Vani Devero of Aegis as best setter, Jeri Ledesma of Convergys-TGU as best server, Niño Rey Ymbong of Aegis as best attacker, Noel Sala also of Aegis as best digger, and Arman Quirol of Convergys-TGU as best receiver.
Third place for the men’s category went to Convergys-TGU, which beat ePerformax in a four-setter, 25-23, 25-13, 20-25, 25-23.
In the distaff side, Covergys also pushed aside Aegis in three straight sets, 25-12, 25-22, 25-20 to bag the crown with a perfect performance in the tournament winning all its ten games.
Ikit Caballero led the Convergys onslaught that earned her the MVP plum. Other individual awardees from Convergys were best server Mona Carla Dubduban, best digger Eda Son, and best blocker Arianne Lucero.
Other special awards went to Joan Tanuan of Calltek as the best defensive player, best setter RR Loayon of Aegis, best attacker Ga Caballero of Aegis, and best receiver Ma. Cheza Ybañez of Innodata.
Third place for the women’s event went to Calltek, which swept Innodata, 25-18, 25-17, 26-24.
The tournament’s major backers were Innodata Sports, Veco, ePerformax BPO and Contact Centers, and Aboitiz Land.

Other participants in the men’s event of this tournament organized by Spike Sports of Atty. Joseph Gonzales were Convergys-iBanawa, Accenture, EPCIBECC-BPO, Lexmark, and Stream.
