Dynamo FC lays out program for aspiring Cebuano booters

CEBU, Philippines - The Dynamo Football Club takes the initiative of helping Cebu football’s grassroots development program by taking care of the south of Cebu starting off in Talisay City via the first Dynamo Cup on October 6 at the East Visayan Academy field.

“Part of our trust right now is developing football to kids in the southern part of Cebu ,” said Dynamo FC president Edwin Leano in yesterday’s launching of the one-day football festival.

Although most of Dynamo FC members are based in Cebu City, they decided to help out the southern part of Cebu after getting inspiration from Talisay Razkals coach Rosner Bollozos, who developed the Razkals into a champion team despite their limited resources.

“The tournament serves as a window for Talisay kids to hone their skills and as a means to raise funds to help acquire equipment and to fund further training not only for kids but also for coaches),” added Leano.

The October 6 tilt could be considered as the biggest in Talisay as most events held there are mainly district meets or club tournaments.

Being a grassroots event, the organizers only features categories from players 6, 8 and 10 up to boys 12 and 14.

On the other hand, Carl Baring, an official of Dynamo FC, assured the 45 competing teams of a fair and balance groupings for the one-day action.

“We make sure that there is balance in the groupings. We have take note in other tournaments that one bracket is on a group death and the other one as free riders. We want to eliminate it. We will also have a central scheduling and monitoring of participating teams and a dedicated proctor for each age bracket,” said Baring.

The entries will be competing a seven-a-side event except for the players 6, which is a 5-a-side.

The top performing squads in all levels will take home a specially-designed trophy and medals from Suarez Brothers.

Aside from the tournament, Dynamo FC will also be donating goals to Talisay, two of which will be for the host East Visayan Academy and the rest in another area of the First District of Cebu, thanks to the support of PC Quick Buys, International Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Pasajero Motors Corporation, Cebu Landmasters, Shemberg, EcoGen Renewal Energy and Spianada.

Congressman Samsam Gullas has also extended help to Dynamo via manpower, making sure that there are enough barangay tanods, medical personnels and traffic enforcers during the event.

After Talisay, Dynamo FC is planning to organize another activity in Minglanilla or to another area in the south where a field could be readily available. (FREEMAN)
