CEBU, Philippines - It's all systems go for the Spike Sports Volleyball League dubbed as the "Innodata-Skywalkers Cup 2013" on September 14 at Innodata's multi-sport court along Lopez Jaena Street in Mandaue City.
The first conference will feature nine teams in both the men's and women's divisions.
Host Innodata leads the cast in the men's division that also includes Aegis People Support, Convergys TGU and iBanawa, Accenture, EPCIBECC-BDO, ePerformax, Lexmark and Stream.
Except for Stream and Convergys, which is fielding only one team, all teams also have entries in the women's side. Qualfon and Calltek completes the nine-team roster in the women's division.
Scheduled only on weekends, the tournament is expected to end on October 19.
Skywalkers Club president Gab Babista, a former volleyball varsity at the University of Sto.Tomas who is now a team leader in Convergys, said the elimination will follow a single-round robin format, with the team that can score a sweep enjoying a twice-to-beat advantage going into the semifinal round.
On the other hand, Babista and Spike Sports of lawyer Joseph Gonzales are very thankful to Innodata through its sports manager Vincent Joel Gagno for offering its facility in this event for free.
With that, Babista said they will be giving away cash prizes and trophies to the top performers. (FREEMAN)
